Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu declared the immediate cancellation of user charges for garbage collection across Andhra Pradesh. He committed to initiating electricity generation from municipal waste wherever feasible and emphasized the importance of compost preparation in other regions.
During his address as the chief guest at the Swachhata hi Seva event in Vijayawada, coinciding with the birthdays of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on October 2, 2024, Mr. Naidu unveiled the proposed P-4 model (public, private, people partnership). This initiative aims to transform Andhra Pradesh into a progressive state by 2047, with a launch set for Sankranthi next year.
Mr. Naidu highlighted his ambition to realize ‘Swachha Andhra Pradesh’ within five years, prioritizing the development of Amaravati as an exemplary capital city and the expedited construction of the Polavaram project within two years.
He also referred to his leadership role in the national sub-committee of Chief Ministers on the ‘Swachcha Bharat Mission,’ reasserting his dedication to implementing its recommendations effectively.
The Chief Minister emphasized wealth generation from waste, stating it would create job opportunities while addressing climate change and reducing environmental pollution. Additionally, he reiterated his commitment to completing the Machilipatnam seaport by the end of 2025 and advancing the Machilipatnam – Repalle railway line project to enhance connectivity.
Addressing local issues, Mr. Naidu announced plans to name the new government medical college in Machilipatnam after Pingali Venkaiah, the designer of the National Flag, while also committing to improve the town’s drainage system. He acknowledged the vital contributions of sanitary workers in the cleanup efforts following recent floods in Vijayawada, pledging to empower them economically through self-help groups.
