ECNETNews, New York, NY, September 30, 2024: Alvaro Bautista from Aruba’s It Racing-Ducati celebrated a remarkable win at the Aragon round of the 2024 Superbike World Championship, overcoming fierce competition from Toprak Razgatlioglu and Nicolo Bulega. Bautista’s victory in Alcaniz, Spain on September 29, 2024, signifies a pivotal comeback after facing difficulties with the new weight regulations earlier this season.
This two-time WorldSBK Champion has encountered challenges throughout 2024, securing only four victories in contrast to his impressive 27 wins in 2023. Prior to his success at Aragon, Bautista’s last triumph was in the Superpole Race at Assen during the third round of the season. However, at MotorLand Aragon, he delivered two vital performances that solidified his position.
Elated with his results, Bautista shared his thoughts: “I was really happy with the feeling I had with the bike. I had some issues with the front and wasn’t able to push to the limit, but today everything felt normal, so I was able to push.”
Reflecting on his Sprint Race victory, Bautista elaborated, “The Superpole Race was incredibly fast, and I was at the limit trying to keep up with Toprak and Nicolo. I observed their battle, and Nicolo was exceptionally strong, so I thought I might have to settle for third. But in the last three laps, I saw an opening when Toprak passed Nicolo, and I knew I had to make my move to claim the win.”
With only six races remaining this season, Bautista trails Razgatlioglu by 81 points in the World Superbike standings. While he can still mathematically secure his third consecutive title, the Spaniard has acknowledged that winning the championship is no longer his primary concern.
