U.S. company Alef Aeronautics is making headlines with its innovative flying prototype, designed to resemble a conventional car rather than traditional helicopters. This electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle can launch vertically using electric power, setting it apart from airplanes that require lengthy runways for takeoff.
Alef has revealed that its current model accommodates a single passenger and is capable of flying in all directions. The vehicle has undergone several tests, and while observers noted its capabilities, there were no drivers seen entering or exiting the vehicle during demonstrations. In addition to its flying abilities, the car can operate on roads but is classified as a Low Speed Vehicle (LSV), with a top speed of 25 miles per hour.
There is significant interest in this groundbreaking vehicle, with over 3,200 preorders placed at a price point of $299,999. Alef Aeronautics anticipates entering mass production within the next year, raising questions about the future of flying car regulations and the potential for turning science fiction into a remarkable new reality.
