Jazz composer and multi-instrumentalist Angel Bat Dawid has unveiled her upcoming album, in collaboration with multidisciplinary artist Naima Nefertari. Titled Journey to Nabta Playa, the album is set for release on May 2 through Spiritmuse. Leading the full-length project is the captivating new track “Procession of the Equinox.”
The collaboration between Dawid and Nefertari draws inspiration from Nabta Playa, an ancient astrological stone circle located in the Nubian Desert. Additionally, the project references the renowned children’s book author Virginia Hamilton’s The People Could Fly: American Black Folktales. The evocative words of Hamilton, which reflect a rich tapestry of African magic and folklore, resonate throughout the album.
Stay tuned for the release of Journey to Nabta Playa and immerse yourself in a world of musical exploration that bridges history with contemporary sound.
