On August 4, Akhilesh Yadav, chief of the Samajwadi Party (SP), called for the court to ensure the protection of the Ayodhya rape victim, highlighting the case’s “sensitivity.” He condemned any attempts to politicize such tragic incidents.
Yadav stated, “The government must provide the highest standard of medical care for the rape survivor. Protecting the victim’s life falls under the government’s duties,” shared through social media.

He appealed to the court to take suo motu cognizance of the situation, ensuring comprehensive security for the victim, given the gravity of the matter. “The motives of those looking to politicize this incident must not succeed,” he stressed.
Yadav ignited debate on August 3 by demanding DNA testing for the two accused involved in the rape of a 12-year-old girl who became pregnant as a result of the assault.
In response, BSP chief Mayawati questioned how many accused underwent DNA tests during SP’s previous administration, while BJP representatives claimed that Yadav provided a “clean chit” to one of the suspects, Moid Khan, allegedly connected to the Samajwadi Party.
Yadav previously asserted, “Any allegations by BJP regarding the Ayodhya case without a DNA test will be viewed as biased.” Other SP leaders have also called for a narco test to be administered in this case.
The BJP accused the SP of defending a perpetrator, highlighting a perceived leniency toward such actions. Yadav countered by suggesting that the BJP was unnerved following its recent electoral losses, particularly in Ayodhya.
Additonally, Yadav demanded that the Uttar Pradesh Government promptly provide ₹20 lakh in assistance to the victim’s family.
The police apprehended Moid Khan, a bakery owner in Bhadarsa Nagar, alongside his employee Raju Khan, on July 30, related to the minor’s rape.
Authorities revealed that the accused had assaulted the girl two months prior and recorded the act, which came to light after she was discovered to be pregnant during a medical examination.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath alleged Moid Khan’s affiliation with the Samajwadi Party and association with Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad. “This incident involves a member of the SP involved in the rape of a young girl. The party has not taken any action against him,” Adityanath stated in the U.P. Assembly on August 1.
The Chief Minister met with the victim’s family last week, and on August 3, the district administration demolished Khan’s bakery under allegations of illegal construction on a pond.
Ayodhya’s District Magistrate Chandra Vijay Singh confirmed the bakery was illegal and acted accordingly.
