Tragic Road Accidents in Same District Claim Lives and Injure Many
Seven individuals, including six choir members from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (KKKT) in Chome, tragically lost their lives in an accident, while another 23 sustained injuries after their vehicle lost control and overturned in the Pare Mountains, located in Same District, Kilimanjaro Region.
Same District Commissioner, Kasilda Mgeni, confirmed the incident, which occurred on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at approximately 4 AM along the Bangalala Road. The choir members were en route from Chome to Vudee when the accident happened.
Mgeni attributed the cause of the accident to a brake failure, which led to the vehicle rolling backward at high speed before losing traction and overturning. The victims’ bodies have been taken to the Same District Hospital.
Mgeni extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and offered prayers for comfort during this difficult time.
In a separate incident, one person died, and 52 others were injured when a bus traveling from Moshi to Dar es Salaam was involved in an accident in the Njoro area of Same District.
"This accident occurred at 7 PM involving a bus heading from Moshi to Dar es Salaam. We have confirmed 52 injuries and one fatality," stated Commissioner Mgeni.
The deceased has been taken to Mwanga District Hospital, while the injured are receiving medical treatment at both Same and Mwanga hospitals.
