The Minister outlined several key initiatives, including a significant allocation of ₹250 crore for rubber replanting across 30,000 hectares to rejuvenate the struggling sector. Additionally, the department plans to organize business-to-business meetings aimed at closing market gaps and increasing farmers’ profitability.
In a forward-looking approach, the Minister revealed that artificial intelligence devices developed by start-ups will be tested in the agricultural sector within six months.
Furthermore, the Agriculture Department has earmarked ₹27 crore to tackle the issue of wild animal interference in farming. Emphasizing the importance of secondary agriculture, the Minister urged farmers to take control of their product pricing through value-added processes. He highlighted initiatives such as producing coconut oil from coconuts, chips from cassava, and flour from banana peels as vital steps toward transforming the agricultural landscape.
The event was presided over by local representatives and included the presence of notable leaders dedicated to advancing the region’s agricultural interests.
