Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani, aged 62, has announced plans to retire at 70, transitioning control of the conglomerate to his sons and cousins in the early 2030s. Upon his retirement, his four heirs—sons Karan and Jeet, along with cousins Pranav and Sagar—will become equal beneficiaries of the family trust.
A confidential agreement is expected to outline the transfer of stakes in the various firms within the Adani Group. Karan Adani currently serves as the managing director of Adani Ports, while Jeet Adani is the director of Adani Airports. Pranav Adani holds the position of director at Adani Enterprises, and Sagar Adani is the executive director at Adani Green Energy.
Karan and Pranav are seen as strong candidates to eventually succeed Gautam as chairman. “Succession is very important for business sustainability. I trust the second generation to ensure the transition is organic, gradual, and systematic,” Gautam stated. The Adani siblings confirmed that collaborative decision-making will persist, even during crises or major strategic changes.
This announcement coincides with Adani Enterprises reporting a significant increase in first-quarter profits, attributed to the conglomerate’s expansion in the renewable energy sector.
