Senator Ishaku Abbo of Adamawa State is once again at the center of controversy, following the emergence of a viral video allegedly depicting him in a sexual encounter with a married woman.
This incident comes two years after Abbo made headlines for an altercation with a breastfeeding mother in a shop in Abuja during his first Senate term.
The recent video, which surfaced late last week, has sparked significant attention and speculation, though claims identifying Abbo as the man in the video remain unsubstantiated by credible sources.
In response to the video’s release, Abbo held a press conference, categorically denying that he was the individual captured in the footage with the alleged married woman from Adamawa, whose spouse reportedly resides in Abuja.
“How can you identify a person without seeing his face or body, only parts of his legs? It’s absurd to claim it is Senator Abbo,” he stated emphatically.
Abbo, who was recently removed from the Senate by an Appeal Court decision, accused his political rivals of orchestrating what he termed “timid blackmail.”
“Such blackmail won’t hinder my electoral prospects. A senator from the northern states was featured in a similar video but still clinched victory in the elections, as did his wife. My constituents stand by me, and no amount of slander can alter that,” he asserted.
Furthermore, the senator indicated his intention to pursue legal action against those he believes are responsible for disseminating the video and attempting to damage his reputation.
Abbo affirmed that he remains undeterred and believes that attempts to tarnish his image will ultimately backfire, asserting that his supporters will continue to back him, citing his previous performance in the Senate.
