The Crime Suppression Division (CSD) is currently investigating an embezzlement complaint filed by a prominent health and beauty products entrepreneur against Thai actress Arisara “Due” Thongborisut.
Representatives for billionaire Wasana Intasang met with CSD officials to submit further evidence related to the allegations.
According to CSD deputy commander Pol Col Anek Taosuparp, the investigation may take additional time due to the need for evidence collection and witness interviews.
As of now, the police have not issued a summons for the actress as they continue their preliminary inquiries.
Pol Col Anek noted that the information gathered thus far could potentially lead to an embezzlement charge. In Thailand, embezzlement can result in a prison sentence of up to three years; however, a resolution is possible if the borrowed assets are returned and the complaint is withdrawn.
Ms. Wasana, 41, is the CEO of Revomed Co, a company specializing in dietary supplements and beauty products. It is reported that on March 11, she filed a complaint claiming that 34-year-old Arisara borrowed and pledged high-end bags and accessories valued at 62 million baht.
Among these luxury items is an emerald and diamond necklace worth 26 million baht, created by Lotus Arts de Vivre. Unverified reports suggest that the necklace is currently held by a government minister. Pol Col Anek stated that if a third party is implicated, that individual would need to prove their innocence. Anyone who knowingly retains embezzled goods could face prosecution for possession of stolen property.
Athachai Jaeng-arun, legal counsel for Ms. Wasana, emphasized that the case pertains solely to alleged embezzlement, stating, “If the borrowed items are returned, the matter can be settled.”
In contrast, Nitisak Meekuat, representing the actress, revealed that she has traveled abroad and has not yet returned to Thailand, affirming that she does not intend to evade the situation.
Earlier in 2023, Ms. Arisara made headlines after alleging that her ex-boyfriend was involved in a gambling network and had subjected her to abuse, prompting her to seek refuge in Taiwan.
