In a call for increased representation and empowerment of women in politics, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, emphasized the necessity of female participation during a recent event on September 29, 2024. He urged women who are eager to foster genuine change to join the ‘Shakti Abhiyan’, an initiative aimed at creating an equitable political landscape for women’s interests.
“A year ago, we launched the ‘Indira Fellowship’ to amplify women’s voices in politics. Today, this initiative has evolved into a significant movement advocating for women’s leadership,” said Gandhi.
“True equality and justice require more women in politics. The motto ‘Aadhi Abadi, Poora Haq‘ reflects our unwavering dedication to this essential cause,” he proclaimed.
Gandhi further encouraged all women passionate about enacting real change to participate actively in women-centric politics through the ‘Shakti Abhiyan’. He stressed that involvement would help build strong grassroots organizations and drive impactful transformation. “Join us and register today at shaktiabhiyan.in,” he added.
“Together, we can ignite change that resonates from local communities to the nation,” Gandhi concluded.
The ‘Shakti Abhiyan’, spearheaded by the Indian Youth Congress, seeks to establish a fair representation of women’s interests in political decision-making, marked by women representing women at every level of governance—from local bodies to legislative assemblies and Parliament.
The Indira Fellowship honors former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and aims to elevate women’s voices within the political space, driving essential societal transformation.
