NAKHON RATCHASIMA – A German man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting several dentists and was brought to provincial court on Wednesday.
Acting on a court warrant, police apprehended 41-year-old Matthias Ebner at a shopping mall parking lot around 5 PM on Tuesday, as stated by deputy provincial police chief Pol Col Kachen Setthaputta.
Ebner was discovered sitting in the back of his vehicle, having reportedly fled his residence upon learning of the arrest warrant.
The police plan to request an extension of his detention by an additional 12 days, as he faces charges of trespassing, assault, and property damage. Authorities anticipate opposing any bail applications.
Following his arrest, Ebner was taken to the Jor Hor police station. There, he acknowledged being the individual named in the warrant but declined to provide further comments, indicating he would reserve his statements for the court.
Ebner has been residing in Thailand legally, with his visa extended annually. However, police intend to seek the cancellation of his visa at the Nakhon Ratchasima Immigration Office due to concerns about public safety, according to Pol Col Kachen.
His Thai wife has reportedly stated that he suffers from a mental illness but does not take any medication for it.
The first complaint against Ebner was filed by a woman dentist on November 30, alleging that he physically attacked her after forcibly entering her dental clinic. Since then, additional complaints have been made by other dentists regarding incidents that occurred over the last three and a half months.
Investigations are set to commence, with authorities interviewing complainants and building a case against the suspect.
