The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, commended the essential contributions and sacrifices made by the Nigerian Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation during a civic reception on Saturday. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to honor the dedication of military personnel who work tirelessly to maintain national security.
Abiodun praised Rear Admiral Kolawole Oguntuga, the Fleet Commander of the Eastern Fleet of the Nigerian Navy, for his commendable achievements and professional ascent within the Navy. The governor was represented at the event by his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele.
The reception, which celebrated Oguntuga’s recent promotion to Rear Admiral, took place at the Palace of the Ajalorun of Ijebu Ife, Oba Adesesan Oguntayo. The ceremony was attended by notable figures including the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Olaoye Ghandi, and various dignitaries from the state.
Governor Abiodun stated, “In Ogun State, we acknowledge the invaluable sacrifices of our armed forces in securing our lives and upholding the nation’s territorial integrity.” He emphasized the importance of continued support for the Armed Forces in fulfilling their constitutional duties.
The governor remarked on the significance of achieving the rank of Rear Admiral as a testament to years of dedication and exemplary service. He noted, “This reception celebrates professionalism, service, and commitment to duty, marking a moment of pride for Ijebu Ife and Ogun State.”
Abiodun expressed confidence that Rear Admiral Oguntuga would continue to inspire future generations by upholding high standards of leadership within the Nigerian Navy. Oba Oguntayo highlighted that the gathering was not only to recognize individual success but also to honor the hard work and dedication that have established Oguntuga among the nation’s elite military personnel. He urged the Rear Admiral to continue advocating for selfless service in his new role.
Rear Admiral Olusegun Ferreira, representing the Chief of Naval Staff, praised Oguntuga as a humble and reliable officer dedicated to the Navy’s constitutional objectives. He encouraged Oguntuga to maintain his excellence in service.
In his address, Oguntuga reflected on the challenges of his journey, expressing gratitude for the support he received from the Nigerian Navy and acknowledging President Bola Tinubu for endorsing his promotion.
