Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of Olaniyi Ijalaye, the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ijalaye passed away on Monday evening in Abuja shortly after attending a meeting at INEC’s headquarters. Reports indicate that he collapsed upon returning to his hotel room at the Bon Octagon Hotel after the meeting, despite appearing to be in good spirits during the discussions.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Ijalaye family, the people, and the government of Ondo State for the loss of their distinguished son. Ijalaye was a model of diligence and honesty in public service,” the governor stated.
Governor Abiodun reflected on the impact of Ijalaye’s life, emphasizing that while his passing is a significant loss for Ogun State, his legacy of integrity and commitment will remain in the hearts of many. He concluded with a prayer for God’s rest upon Ijalaye’s soul and for the protection of his family during this difficult time.
