Burton’s inspiring journey includes a harrowing 25-day induced coma in 2022, during which she managed to overcome severe setbacks, including multiple bouts of pneumonia and significant weight loss. Reflecting on her extraordinary fight against autoimmune encephalitis, Burton expressed pride in achieving her debut less than three years after her ordeal. She stated, “The fact that I’ve been able to do it in less than a three-year turnaround, I’m really proud of myself for that.”
After battling physical limitations that made it difficult to walk, talk, and engage with others, Burton learned to appreciate her recovery journey and emphasized the importance of self-kindness during that time. “I think that it’s changed me for the better and it just makes this journey so much sweeter now,” she added, highlighting her aim to raise awareness about her illness.

She credits her parents with fiercely advocating for her health, believing that her struggles were not simply psychological. “They basically helped save my life,” she affirmed, describing their unwavering support throughout her hospitalization.
Recounting a poignant memory, she recalled waking from her coma, holding her parents’ hands, and feeling reassured that she would be okay. “They are real-life superheroes,” she said, expressing her pride in their resilience through the trauma.
