OKLAHOMA CITY — A woman was fatally shot by Oklahoma City police after she allegedly fired a gun and threatened officers following a vehicle accident, according to local authorities.
The woman was reportedly a suspect in a prior shooting incident. Capt. Valerie Littlejohn stated that seven officers responded to the crash and attempted to engage with her but were forced to use lethal force when she posed a threat.
“We are unclear whether she was targeting anyone or discharging the weapon into the air or ground,” Littlejohn noted.
Authorities plan to review body camera footage in an effort to gather further information regarding the incident, as stated by the police captain.
Fortunately, none of the seven officers involved sustained injuries. All officers have been placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues, according to Littlejohn.
