In a noteworthy event at the Kalamassery Agricultural Festival, a goat auction aimed at raising funds for families affected by landslides in Wayanad drew significant attention. The auction featured participation from various attendees, including the acclaimed writer who brought to light the harrowing tale of a man living in slave-like conditions on a goat farm through the best-selling novel Aadujeevitham (Goat Life).
The auction concluded with a successful bid from local resident Noushad, who purchased the goat for ₹13,800. This amount, substantially higher than the goat’s original valuation, was handed over to P. Rajeeve, the Minister for Industries. In a commendable show of support, Noushad decided to donate the goat back to the organizers, allowing it to be auctioned again as part of ongoing fundraising efforts for Wayanad’s rehabilitation initiatives.
