Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil an array of development initiatives exceeding ₹6,100 crore during his visit to Varanasi on Sunday, October 20, 2024.
Key among the projects is the expansion of the runway and the construction of a new terminal at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, with an estimated investment of ₹2,870 crore. Additionally, the PM will inaugurate the RJ Sankara Eye Hospital in Varanasi.
The initiatives also include the foundation stone laying for a new civil enclave at Agra airport, valued at more than ₹570 crore, and enhancements at Darbhanga and Bagdogra airports, costing approximately ₹910 crore and ₹1,550 crore, respectively. New terminal buildings are planned for airports in Rewa, Ambikapur, and Saharanpur, with a total investment exceeding ₹220 crore. The design of these airports draws inspiration from the rich heritage of their respective regions.
In addition to airport projects, PM Modi will inaugurate phases 2 and 3 of the redevelopment of the Varanasi Sports Complex, costing over ₹210 crore under the Khelo India scheme and the Smart City mission. This complex will feature a National Centre of Excellence, player hostels, sports science facilities, practice fields, indoor shooting ranges, and combat sports arenas.
Moreover, a 100-bed hostel and a public pavilion will be inaugurated at the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Stadium in Lalpur.
Tourism enhancements in Sarnath will also be part of the agenda, including pedestrian-friendly streets, modern sewer lines, upgraded drainage systems, and zones for local handicraft vendors. Other initiatives will feature tourism development projects at the Banasur Temple and Gurudham Temple, alongside beautification efforts for local parks.
This significant development initiative is part of the Prime Minister’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure improvement and regional development across India.
