ECNETNews, New York, NY, Mon. Oct. 14, 2024: Jamaican Olympic star Junelle Bromfield has officially announced her engagement to U.S. sprinting champion Noah Lyles. The joyous news was shared over the weekend, with Bromfield posting a celebratory video showcasing her stunning engagement ring.
“ENGAGED💍🥺,” Bromfield expressed, capturing the elation of their milestone moment.
27-year-old Lyles also shared the happy news via social media, featuring a romantic video of his proposal that took place on Saturday, Oct. 12. The U.S. sprinter, who clinched gold at the recent Paris Olympics, accompanied the touching video with a cover of Bobby Caldwell’s beloved song, “What You Won’t Do for Love.”
The video depicts Lyles and the 26-year-old Bromfield walking hand-in-hand through an enchanting candlelit setting adorned with flowers. They arrive at a beautifully arranged backyard that showcased a heart crafted from pink roses and a neon sign declaring, “Will you marry me?” The heartfelt moment culminated with Bromfield saying yes.
The couple initially connected in 2017 through social media, but their first date didn’t spark romance, keeping them as friends. In 2022, they reignited their relationship, becoming inseparable ever since. Lyles shared earlier this year that he envisions a lifelong partnership with Bromfield.
The couple went Instagram-official in December 2022 after celebrating together at the USATF Night of Legends event, where Lyles received the Male Athlete of the Year award. Bromfield, a bronze medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, marked their first anniversary with a heartfelt message in August 2023.
While the engagement brings joy, Bromfield has faced some criticism from segments of the Jamaican community regarding her relationship with Lyles. However, the couple remains steadfast in their love and commitment to each other as they look forward to their shared future.
