Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams delivered an impressive performance by throwing four touchdowns during the team’s 35-16 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday. This remarkable showing marks him as only the third quarterback in NFL International series history to achieve four touchdown passes in a London game, joining the ranks of Tom Brady and Blake Bortles, and he is the first Bears rookie to do so in any game since 1999.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Williams also became the second rookie quarterback to secure a win in London, showcasing his exceptional talent at just 22 years old. After the game, he highlighted the importance of teamwork, emphasizing the support from his offensive line and coaching staff as vital contributors to his success. “It’s about having the comfort level of playing football, having that feel for the game,” he remarked.
Under head coach Matt Eberflus, the Bears have now achieved their third consecutive victory, improving their season record to 4-2. Eberflus praised Williams’ consistency and growth, noting his impressive quarterback rating and his ability to learn the game effectively. “He’s learning our offense and how to utilize the skill sets our guys have, and he’s doing a good job with that,” said Eberflus.
Looking Ahead
The Jacksonville Jaguars will remain in London as they prepare to face the New England Patriots at Wembley Stadium, continuing their back-to-back games in the UK for the second year in a row. The Bears will enjoy a bye week before heading to Washington to take on the Commanders in Week Eight.
