The Puthur junction bus stop is facing significant challenges due to a lack of essential amenities, impacting many commuters who depend on this vital transit point to access rural areas via the Chathiram Bus Stand in Tiruchi.
With insufficient seating, commuters are often left standing in the middle of the road. This bus stop serves as a hub for those traveling to Somarasanpettai, while buses heading to Ariyalur and Chennai also make stops here. The proximity of multiple educational institutions results in high foot traffic on most days.
Reports indicate that space constraints, due to adjacent shops, have hindered the installation of additional seating in the bus shelter. Many commuters express frustration over the nearby liquor outlet, as it attracts anti-social elements, creating an uncomfortable environment at the bus stop.
One commuter shared, “Sometimes, we have to wait at least half an hour under the hot sun. This place is crucial for reaching Chathiram and it is always crowded. If there were enough seats, it would be much more convenient.”
In response to the concerns raised, a senior official from TNSTC stated that the issue will be addressed promptly.
