Childish Gambino has officially announced the cancellation of his New World Tour. This decision follows a temporary pause last month to focus on his health. In a recent update, the artist revealed that after performing in New Orleans, he was hospitalized in Houston due to a concerning ailment. He stated, “After being assessed, it became clear I would not perform that night, and subsequent tests confirmed I could not continue the US tour as planned. I have surgery scheduled and will need time to heal.”
As a result of this cancellation, refunds will be provided for the unfulfilled shows. Childish Gambino’s last performance was on September 7 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. He had to call off his North American shows that were set to take place between September 8 and October 2. Additionally, he was slated to kick off the European leg of his tour on October 31 and continue through December 5.
In his statement, Childish Gambino emphasized, “My path to recovery is something I need to confront seriously. With that said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour and the UK and European dates. Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase.” He expressed his deep desire to perform for his fans, stating, “Until then, thanks for the love, privacy, and support.”
