During a vibrant Hobbit Day Showcase, exciting news emerged as Private Division and Weta Workshop unveiled the release date for the highly anticipated life simulation game, Tales Of The Shire. After a postponement from its original 2024 launch window, fans can now mark their calendars for March 25, 2025.
Tales Of The Shire invites players to immerse themselves in the idyllic world of The Shire, shifting away from the traditional action-packed narratives often associated with The Lord Of The Rings franchise. Players will have the opportunity to create their own Hobbit, settle into charming hobbit hole homes in Bywater, and engage with a lively Hobbit community.
Players will have various tasks, including gathering ingredients for meals—especially breakfast and second breakfast—fishing, gardening, and personalizing their hobbit homes. Bywater will be bustling with other hobbit NPCs who will provide quests, trade rare items, and offer advice to help new residents feel at home.
This release marks the debut of Weta Workshop’s video game division, established in 2014, and known for its cinematic effects work on films such as Alien: Romulus and Dune Part Two, in addition to contributing to The Rings Of Power on Amazon Prime.
Hobbit Day, which inspired this showcase, is part of Tolkien Week—an annual celebration honoring the literary legacy of J.R.R. Tolkien. Celebrated on September 22, Hobbit Day commemorates the birthdays of the beloved characters Bilbo and Frodo Baggins.
Tales Of The Shire will be available on March 25, 2025, across various platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and mobile devices via Netflix Games.
