A tragic incident has unfolded in Jigawar Maroka village, Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa, where a 40-year-old man named Jibrin Adamu took his own life by hanging.
The local police confirmed the incident, stating that the individual, who had been battling mental illness, committed the act on the evening of September 19, 2024.
According to reports, Adamu was discovered hanging from the ceiling of a classroom at the Miftahul Khairat Islamiyya And Primary School Gurdiba. Upon receipt of the report, police officials quickly responded to the scene.
The authorities found his lifeless body and subsequently sent it to Dutse General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel. His remains have been handed over to his family for burial.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Adamu had a history of mental health challenges, which often caused him to go missing for days at a time. It was noted that he had left his home to fetch water shortly before the incident occurred.
In light of the tragic event, the Commissioner of Police in Jigawa has ordered a thorough investigation into the case.
