ECNETNews, New York, NY, Tues. September 17, 2024: Yverdon Sport has officially signed Jamaican international and Reggae Boyz player Dexter Lembikisa from Wolverhampton Wanderers for the upcoming 2024/25 season. The 20-year-old right-back represents the final strategic addition to head coach Alessandro Mangiarratti’s roster as the team gears up for competition in the Swiss Super League.
Lembikisa, who has earned 10 caps for Jamaica, joins Yverdon Sport following a productive loan spell at Heart of Midlothian in Scotland, where he featured in nine matches and netted one goal last season. A product of Wolverhampton’s academy, he has impressively made 52 appearances and scored three goals for the U21 squad.
Renowned for his athleticism and competitive edge, Lembikisa shared his excitement about joining Yverdon Sport, stating, “I come here with the desire to continue my development, gain experience, and most importantly, win. I love winning! On the field, I enjoy one-on-ones and taking on the opponent.”
The young defender will participate in his first training session with the squad on Tuesday and is set to be available for selection in this weekend’s match against Lausanne-Sport. Additionally, he reunites with former teammate Christian Marques, with whom he previously shared the pitch in England.
