Special Interest has made a striking return with their latest single, “Nothing Grows Here.” The New Orleans-based band has unveiled a powerful track mixed by Ruth Mascelli and mastered by Kassian Troyer. Accompanying the song is a captivating visualizer created by guitarist Maria Elena.
Alli Logout, the lead vocalist of Special Interest, shared insights about the new release, describing it as a reflection on “stagnancy, over-stayed welcomes, and the moment you choose to confront your complacency.” Logout emphasized the emotional impact of the song, stating, “It’s about feeling the earth dying beneath our feet. It poses the question: How do we stand and what do we stand for? This is a rallying cry for action in the moment.”
Earlier this summer, Logout collaborated with DJ and producer Margo XS, releasing two singles under their duo deBasement: “Front Left Speaker” and “FTDJ (Thank God).”
