Pop star Justin Timberlake has been sentenced to community service after pleading guilty to a drink-driving charge. Reports indicate that the incident occurred on June 18 in Sag Harbor, located approximately 100 miles east of New York City, where Timberlake was seen running a stop sign and swerving between lanes in his BMW.
Initially, Timberlake pleaded not guilty to driving while intoxicated during an online court appearance. Following this, a judge ordered the suspension of his driver’s license in New York state. However, at a later court appearance, Timberlake accepted a plea deal for a lesser charge of driving while alcohol-impaired, leading to the community service sentence issued by Sag Harbor Village Justice Court.
The police officer involved in the traffic stop reported that Timberlake displayed several signs of impairment. Observations included bloodshot, glassy eyes, a strong smell of alcohol, slow speech, and unsteady movements. The report noted that he performed poorly on all standard field sobriety tests.
Timberlake has also been ordered to make a public statement as part of his sentence.
