Firewalk Studios has officially announced what players can expect with the launch of Concord, set to release on August 23. As a notable departure from many current online shooters, the game will not include a battle pass system.
Mark DeRidder, gameplay animation director at Firewalk, emphasized this decision, stating, “You own Concord, Concord doesn’t own you.” DeRidder’s experience includes working on major titles, including a battle pass system for Call of Duty: Warzone.
While the absence of a battle pass may stand out, Firewalk has exciting plans for post-launch content, promising new Freegunners, maps, modes, and more—all without any additional cost to players. Concord will be priced at $40 and is not a free-to-play title.
Originally unveiled during a PlayStation State of Play in May, Concord combines elements from popular games like Overwatch and Valorant, while drawing inspiration from the Guardians of the Galaxy films. The game recently wrapped up an open beta that ran throughout July, concluding on the weekend of July 21.
Concord is available for preorder in both standard and digital deluxe editions, making it a highly anticipated addition to the online shooter genre.
