Eminem Set to Open 2024 MTV Video Music Awards
Eminem is poised to make a splash at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday, September 11, as he takes the stage for his first televised performance since the release of his latest project, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), in July. This year’s performance at the UBS Arena in Long Island marks Eminem’s second time opening the prestigious awards show, following his notable 2010 performance that featured hits like "Not Afraid" and "Love the Way You Lie," with Rihanna.
With a record-tying eight VMA wins, Eminem is on the verge of becoming the most-decorated winner in the history of the event. He is nominated for three awards this year, including Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop, and Song of the Summer for his track "Houdini." Securing one of these awards would elevate him past Phil Collins into the top spot.
Eminem’s last appearance at the VMAs was in 2022, when he collaborated with Snoop Dogg in a metaverse experience presented by an NFT company. His previous VMA performances also include memorable collaborations with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg in 2012.
Joining Eminem this year are a star-studded lineup of performers, including Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Glorilla, Camila Cabello, Rauw Alejandro, and Katy Perry, who will be honored with the Video Vanguard Award. The event will be hosted by Megan Thee Stallion.
