At least 14 individuals have been reported dead following Israeli airstrikes on multiple military installations in central Syria, as confirmed by the Syrian state news agency. According to a hospital director, 43 others were injured in these attacks that targeted the Masyaf area in Hama province on Sunday night.
Reports indicate that among the deceased are at least four soldiers and three civilians, with the strikes resulting in the destruction of military and scientific facilities where Iran-backed forces were allegedly present.
While the Israeli military has refrained from commenting on specific foreign media reports, it has acknowledged conducting numerous strikes in recent years targeting sites associated with Iran and allied armed groups. Notably, these airstrikes appear to have intensified since the onset of the Gaza conflict in October of last year, sparked by increasing cross-border assaults on northern Israel from Hezbollah and other groups operating in Lebanon and Syria.
A military source reported that Israeli aircraft launched missiles from over northwestern Lebanon at around 23:20 local time, targeting several military locations in central Syria. The Syrian defense reportedly intercepted some missiles during the assault.
The strikes also resulted in damage to local infrastructure, including a highway, and triggered a fire in the Hair Abbas region. Reports describe “13 violent explosions” in the vicinity of the scientific research centers in Masyaf, suggesting significant activity surrounding pro-Iranian groups and weapons development efforts. It was reported that three civilians in a vehicle and four unidentified soldiers lost their lives in these attacks.
