In a tragic incident on the evening of September 7, 2024, five individuals lost their lives and 24 others sustained injuries when a three-storey building collapsed in Lucknow’s Transport Nagar area, according to official reports.
The Uttar Pradesh Relief Commission has confirmed that those injured have been swiftly transported to Lok Bandhu Hospital for treatment.
Currently, rescue operations are in progress, with authorities working to determine the identities of the deceased.
The building, utilized as a warehouse, collapsed around 5 PM, and preliminary information indicates that construction work was ongoing at the time of the incident. Built approximately four years ago, the structure has raised concerns regarding safety protocols.
Senior police and administrative officials are present at the scene to supervise the rescue efforts.
Emergency rescue teams from specialized forces have been deployed and are actively engaged in rescuing trapped individuals, as stated by Relief Commissioner G..S. Naveen Kumar.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is closely monitoring the situation and the ongoing rescue operations.
