US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley secured an unexpected victory at the BMW Championship, placing him in fourth position heading into next week’s Tour Championship. The 38-year-old golfer, who was appointed captain for the USA’s 2025 Ryder Cup last month, narrowly qualified for the tournament, making the 50-man field as the last entrant.
Bradley finished the final round at Castle Pines with an even-par 72, bringing his total score to 12 under, just one stroke ahead of Ludvig Åberg, Sam Burns, and Adam Scott, who tied for second place. His pivotal moment came on the 10th hole, a challenging 537-yard par-four, where he gained the lead after Scott three-putted for bogey.
As the tournament concluded, Åberg finds himself in fifth place going into the Tour Championship, while Burns, who achieved the best round of the day with a seven-under 65, moved into the top 10 at ninth. Scott currently sits in 14th position.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, finishing tied for 33rd, will enter next week’s championship as the top seed, starting at 10 under par. Xander Schauffele, tied for fifth place at the BMW Championship, will begin in second at eight under par, followed by Hideki Matsuyama, who withdrew due to a back injury this week, in third at seven under.
Rory McIlroy, finishing tied for 11th with a final-round 71 to close at six under, secures the sixth spot for the Tour Championship. Only the top 30 in FedEx Cup standings qualify for the season finale at East Lake.
Tommy Fleetwood, with an impressive tied-fifth finish, moved from 31st to 22nd in the standings. Two-time major champion Justin Thomas managed to qualify in 30th place despite a challenging week ending at two over par. Meanwhile, Brian Harman, the 2023 Open champion, just missed the cut in 31st.
