In a devastating incident, three employees of a secondary school in north-western Bosnia have been killed in a shooting allegedly carried out by a co-worker.
Local police confirmed that the assailant used an automatic rifle during the attack before turning the weapon on himself. He is currently hospitalized in critical condition.
Initial investigations suggest the shooter was a caretaker at the Sanski Most school where the tragic event occurred.
The gunfire erupted amid Bosnia’s summer holiday period, prompting immediate police action.
Authorities responded to reports of the shooting at approximately 10:00 local time. Police spokesperson Adnan Beganovic disclosed that the shooter’s self-inflicted injuries were severe, as he attempted to take his own life post-attack.
Details on the motive remain unclear; however, local reports indicate that the individual concerned may have been suspended from his position and opened fire during a school committee meeting.
The victims have been identified as the school’s dean, a secretary, and an English teacher, leaving the community in shock.
