The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested the Municipal Commissioner of Dammaiguda in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district for allegedly accepting bribes on Sunday evening.
S. Raja Mallaiah reportedly demanded ₹50,000 from a complainant in exchange for processing a counter filing for the Dammaiguda Municipality. This counter aimed to cancel an injunction order obtained by the complainant’s neighbor.
According to sources, Mallaiah had already accepted ₹20,000 from the complainant and was in the process of collecting the remaining ₹30,000 when ACB officers apprehended him. They recovered the bribe amount, and a chemical test confirmed its presence on his fingers and clothing. The official was subsequently arrested and presented before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases.
The ACB urges citizens to report any public servant demanding bribes by calling their toll-free number at 1064 to ensure legal action is taken.
