The dawn of a new era for handloom textiles has arrived with the recent TDP-led NDA government taking charge, stated S. Savitha, the Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, during the closing ceremony of a significant Handloom Textiles Exhibition held at Maris Stella Indoor Stadium in Vijayawada on Tuesday.
Minister Savitha emphasized the commitment of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his administration to the welfare of the handloom sector. Over the course of the 14-day exhibition, the event generated an impressive turnover of approximately ₹2 crore, reflecting the joy and success of local weavers.
Encouraging the community to actively support handloom artisans, she urged everyone to incorporate handloom attire into their wardrobe at least once a week. The government plans to facilitate more events aimed at promoting and uplifting weavers.
Highlighting the cultural significance of handwoven garments, the closing ceremony featured a captivating fashion show, where women elegantly modeled traditional handloom outfits, celebrating the rich heritage of the textile industry.
