A Missouri woman is facing serious allegations of attempting to defraud the family of Elvis Presley, the iconic US singer, out of millions of dollars and to unlawfully seize ownership of Graceland, his famed estate in Memphis, Tennessee.
Lisa Jeanine Findley, age 53, has been arrested and is charged with mail fraud and aggravated identity theft. If convicted, she could potentially face up to 20 years behind bars. Findley’s court appearance is anticipated soon as she navigates this high-profile case.
The Justice Department accuses Findley of impersonating multiple individuals connected to a phony private lending entity known as Naussany Investments & Private Lending LLC. The federal indictment claims she falsely asserted that Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis and who passed away in January 2023, had secured a $3.8 million loan from this fictitious lender by using Graceland as collateral, and had defaulted on the repayment.
In a bold scheme, Findley reportedly sought $2.85 million from the Presley family to resolve the alleged loan, according to federal officials. She is further accused of a series of fraudulent acts, including creating fake loan documents, forging signatures, and publishing a misleading foreclosure notice in a Memphis newspaper claiming that an auction of Graceland was imminent.
The situation escalated earlier this year when the Presley family initiated legal action against Naussany Investments to halt the purported sale of Graceland. Allegations arose that Findley submitted falsified court documents in the process.
Riley Keough, the granddaughter of Elvis Presley and a prominent actress, publicly challenged the legitimacy of the loan claims, asserting that the signatures on the documents were forged. Keough inherited Graceland and a significant portion of the Presley estate following her mother Lisa Marie’s death.
A Tennessee judge intervened, siding with Keough and halting the planned auction of the estate. The Presley family has maintained their stance of legal validity against fraudulent claims concerning Graceland.
Established by Elvis in 1957, Graceland not only serves as his residence but also as a National Historic Landmark, drawing around 600,000 visitors annually. Elvis Presley passed away at Graceland and is laid to rest there, alongside family members including Lisa Marie Presley.
Findley’s recent court appearance resulted in her booking into Greene County Jail, which adds another layer of intrigue to this ongoing legal drama.
