Rossa Ryan heads to Newbury with four strong contenders as he aims to close the gap on Oisin Murphy in the jockeys’ championship.
3.45 Newbury – Adrestia and Magic Mild Target Listed Prize
The Simon and Ed Crisford-trained Adrestia has shown significant improvement this season, securing victory in a Yarmouth maiden last month before dominating in a Sandown handicap. Following a 9lb rise, she carries a rating of 91 and is expected to be a strong contender under Callum Shepherd.
Magic Mild, trained by Clive Cox, has also been in excellent form, winning a Newmarket nursery despite some erratic behavior. If she can rectify those issues, she poses a considerable threat and is one of Ryan’s four hopefuls on the day.
Also in the mix are three-time winner Violet Love and Kaadi, who performed well in the Super Sprint Stakes.
3.15 Newbury – O’Brien’s Isambard Brunel in Competitive Maiden
Aidan O’Brien’s debutante Isambard Brunel, a Justify colt, is set to make waves under Ryan Moore in a highly competitive maiden previously won by King’s Gambit.
Facing stiff competition, he will take on King’s Charter, ridden by Rossa Ryan, who impressed with a strong third-place finish on debut at Sandown.
Windlord, trained by Andrew Balding, also warrants attention after a solid performance chasing down Anno Domini in a recent Sandown contest.
3.35 Wolverhampton – Miss Gitana and Standbackandlook to Clash
On a winning streak, Miss Gitana claims her last two victories at Doncaster and Bath, making her a formidable opponent as she transitions to the all-weather under Jack Gilligan.
Standbackandlook, trained by William Knight, enters this race with momentum after breaking his maiden in a handicap here, and with Jim Crowley aboard, he could be a serious contender.
Best of the Rest
Wolverhampton will feature a promising Novice contest at 2.25, showcasing Islanova under Sir Michael Stoute in the Cheveley Park colors, while three-year-old filly Queen Of Soldiers presents a strong opportunity for Roger Varian.
In Newbury, Miss El Fundi represents Sir Mark Prescott at 2.05, having recently won in Novice company at Kempton and looking to improve upon a previous fifth in the Chesham Stakes.
Karl Burke’s filly Toomuchforme, set to run at 2.40, showed great potential last time out at Ripon, while Andrew Balding’s Musical Angel, who finished behind Miss Fascinator on debut, aims for redemption in her next outing.
