Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has announced the suspension of three commissioners for their failure to attend official duties. The affected commissioners are Solomon Azi, overseeing Grants and Donor Agencies; Victor Chukwu, in charge of the Environment; and Ikeuwa Omebe, responsible for Rural Development.
Each commissioner has been suspended for one month after their absence from a crucial State Executive Council meeting on Monday, without obtaining prior permission.
The suspension was confirmed by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, during a briefing regarding the executive council meeting’s outcomes. He highlighted the governor’s firm stance against absenteeism and negligent work ethics among public servants.
During the suspension period, the commissioners will temporarily lose all benefits tied to their positions. Furthermore, the governor has urged all contractors involved in government projects to expedite their work and adhere strictly to contractual agreements, warning that the government will use all necessary legal measures to ensure compliance.
