Chappell Roan has unveiled her highly anticipated new single, “The Giver.” Drawing inspiration from iconic pop-country tracks, including Big & Rich’s “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)” and Alan Jackson’s “Chattahoochee,” this marks Roan’s first release following the success of her hit single “Good Luck, Babe!”
“Country music holds a special place in my heart,” Roan expressed. “From my mornings and afternoons on the school bus to the joyful chaos of bonfires and karaoke nights, it has always surrounded me. While many are curious if this means I’m creating a country album, my focus for now is on crafting songs that bring me happiness. ‘The Giver’ reflects my unique take on country music.”
Roan first showcased “The Giver” as a musical guest on an episode of Saturday Night Live, captivating audiences with a vibrant performance. Clad in a pink gingham leather ensemble by designer Zara Bayne, Roan delivered an engaging show complete with a full backing band, which included a fiddle player and performers dressed in matching western attire.
Recently, Roan clarified on a podcast that “The Giver” does not indicate a complete shift to country music. “I wrote a country song not to invade the genre but to capture its essence—nostalgia, summertime fun, and the freedom that pop music doesn’t always provide,” she stated.
At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Roan performed her hit “Pink Pony Club” and took home the award for Best New Artist, using her platform to advocate for healthcare reform within the industry.
