Adobe has officially launched Photoshop for iPhone, making its iconic image editing and design tool available for mobile users. This new app, which is now available for download, offers essential Photoshop features such as layering, masking, and Firefly-powered Generative Fill, all optimized for a mobile interface. An Android version is anticipated to debut later this year.
This mobile launch is a key element of Adobe’s strategy to enhance accessibility to Photoshop, with the mobile app and a revamped web experience included in all existing Photoshop plans. This development aims to support current users while attracting a new wave of creators.
With the introduction of the mobile app, Photoshop’s advanced editing tools are now consolidated into a single free application for mobile devices. Users can engage with signature features like selections, layers, and masks. Additionally, the app includes innovative tools such as the Tap Select for quick adjustments, the Spot Healing Brush for distraction removal, and generative AI capabilities powered by Firefly, including Generative Fill and Generative Expand.
The new mobile application seamlessly integrates with other Adobe tools, enabling creators to switch between platforms effortlessly. Users will also have access to Adobe Stock’s vast asset library, allowing for enhanced creative possibilities.
A new Photoshop Mobile and Web plan has been introduced at a price of $7.99 per month or $69.99 annually, which expands access to Photoshop on the web and offers advanced editing features for mobile and iPad users. Key features in this plan include:
– Effortless transitions between mobile and web for fluid editing
– Innovative Firefly-powered AI tools to boost creativity
– Access to over 20,000 fonts, along with the ability to add custom options
– Object Select for accurate selections of subjects
– Advanced retouching tools like Remove Tool, Clone Stamp, and Content-Aware Fill
– Enhanced controls for transparency, color effects, and blend modes
– Non-destructive image adjustment tools such as Lighten and Darken
All current paid Photoshop plans now provide access to Photoshop on iPad, web, and the new mobile app.
Adobe has reiterated its dedication to ethical AI development, affirming that Firefly-powered tools are safe for commercial use. Content generated with these tools will feature Content Credentials, acting as a “nutrition label” for digital content and ensuring transparency in AI-generated media.
Photoshop for iPhone is now accessible globally via the Apple App Store, with the Android version expected to follow later this year. Existing Photoshop users will enjoy the new mobile app at no extra charge as part of their current subscription plans.
