In a significant development in the music world, Ellery James Roberts and Ebony Hoorn, the creative forces behind Lost Under Heaven, have announced their decision to part ways. The duo, known for their rich collaboration, shared their announcement on social media, stating, “We can never know where life will lead us, but for the foreseeable future we won’t be collaborating together anymore as Lost Under Heaven. Only love remains between us, but after 12 years of sharing so much of our lives—living, working, and spending most of our time together—it feels necessary to create space between us to both reconnect with ourselves and fully embrace our individual expression.”
The dynamic partnership began in 2012, and their first track, “Unites,” was released in 2014, paving the way for their debut studio album, Spiritual Songs for Lovers to Sing, launched in 2016 via Mute Records. The album received accolades for its innovative sound, and critics highlighted its “ecstatic defiance” combined with a backdrop of melancholic synths and powerful instrumentation.
Following their first album, Lost Under Heaven released Love Hates What You Become in 2019, further solidifying their presence in the music industry. The duo’s latest project, Something Is Announced by Your Life!, was introduced in 2023 under their own LUH*International label.
The band’s most recent single, “Farhang,” was unveiled in May 2024, with one final track, “Creation Song,” set to be released on Friday, February 28, marking the end of an era for this influential duo.
