Tragic Shooting Claims Life of Hinds County Sheriff’s Deputy
TERRY, Miss. – A devastating incident occurred when a Hinds County sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance call near Jackson, Mississippi. The fallen officer, Deputy Martin Shields, age 37, succumbed to injuries sustained during the Sunday night shooting.
Deputy Shields was dispatched to a residence on Midway Road in Terry, located southwest of Jackson, to address a report of domestic violence. Specific details surrounding the incident remain scarce at this time.
In a tragic discovery, a man was found deceased inside the home where the shooting took place. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the deceased or the circumstances surrounding his death.
Having served the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office for approximately nine months, Deputy Shields brought prior law enforcement experience to his position.
