The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended a suspected car thief, Alhassan Isa, also known as Tata, in connection with a recent vehicle theft.
The suspect, residing in Shuwarin town within the Kiyawa Local Government Area, was discovered in possession of a stolen Mazda 323 Model F, registered under the number MNA 139HK in Niger State.
In an official statement issued in Dutse, the Jigawa State Command Public Relations Officer confirmed that the vehicle’s owner, Abdurrahman Sadiq, reported the theft on February 21, 2025. Sadiq had parked his vehicle at Aujara village in Jahun Local Government Area, inadvertently leaving the keys inside. Upon returning the next day, he found the vehicle missing.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the vehicle was stolen from its parked location. Detectives from the Dutse Division and the State Criminal Investigation Department initiated an inquiry, which ultimately led to the apprehension of the suspect. During questioning, Isa confessed to the theft, revealing that he is an ex-convict with a history of charges related to motorcycle and tricycle theft.
The suspect is set to be arraigned in court to face legal proceedings. The Police Command emphasized their commitment to ensuring justice in this case while urging vehicle owners in Jigawa State to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to prevent theft.
Residents are advised to always secure their vehicles and keep valuables out of sight. The police encourage the public to report any suspicious activities or stolen vehicles to the authorities and reassured the community of their dedication to reducing crime and enhancing public safety.
