Rayados de Monterrey secured their second consecutive victory in the Clausura 2025 by defeating Atlético de San Luis 3-1 at the BBVA Stadium. This match marked the debut of Sergio Ramos with the Monterrey team, and while he came close to scoring, it was Germán Berterame and Oliver Torres who shone, leading the home team to victory.
From the outset, Rayados aimed to dominate. In the 20th minute, “Tecatito” Corona made a run down the flank and delivered a precise cross into the box. Ramos met the ball with a powerful header, but it narrowly missed the right post defended by Andrés Sánchez.
Just three minutes later, Monterrey took the lead. Corona intercepted the ball during a San Luis buildup and passed it to Oliver Torres, who assisted Germán Berterame inside the box. The striker made no mistake and struck accurately to put the score at 1-0 in favor of the hosts.

Monterrey continued to assert their dominance, and in the 33rd minute, after a series of deflections, the ball landed at Oliver Torres‘ feet. The Spanish midfielder unleashed a crossed shot that found its way into the net, extending the lead for Rayados.
In the second half, Monterrey maintained control of the match. In the 78th minute, Sergio Canales executed a series of feints to create space in the defense and slipped the ball to “Tecatito” Corona. He then set up Berterame, who completed his double with a strike from inside the box, making it 3-0.
Two minutes later, Sergio Ramos exited the field and was replaced by Tony Leone, marking the end of his first appearance with the team. In the final moments, San Luis managed to reduce the deficit when Vitinho capitalized on a loose ball in the area and placed a shot to make it 3-1 in the 87th minute.
With this victory, Rayados now sits on 12 points in the standings, solidifying their strong start in the tournament. Meanwhile, Atlético de San Luis remains at three points and will seek to bounce back in the next round.
LA FIERA CONTINUES TO ROAR
León maintained their unbeaten streak in the Clausura 2025 after a 1-0 victory against Tigres in Matchday 8. A lone goal from Stiven Mendoza was enough for the Panzas Verdes to add three more points and secure their position at the top of the table.
The match was decided early on when Mendoza attempted a cross that caught Nahuel Guzmán off guard. The Argentine goalkeeper found himself out of position and could not prevent the ball from finding the back of the net, giving the advantage to the home side.
In the second half, the tempo of the game intensified, and both teams created clear opportunities. However, goalkeeping heroics ensured that the score remained unchanged. In extra time, Uriel Antuna managed to find the net, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
James Rodríguez continues to be the driving force behind León, showcasing his skill and leadership in every match, solidifying his role as the key player for La Fiera. Meanwhile, Tigres leaves the Bajío empty-handed, suffering from the costly error by Guzmán that led to their defeat.
