Big Thief drummer and producer James Krivchenia is set to release his innovative solo album, Performing Belief, on May 2. Collaborating with electric bassist Sam Wilkes and double bassist Joshua Abrams, the album showcases a blend of unique sounds, including synthesizers, drum machines, and samples.
The new track “Probably Wizards,” featuring Wilkes, offers a glimpse into Krivchenia’s experimental approach. This release follows his previous work, Blood Karaoke, which utilized samples from online videos.
To celebrate the launch of Performing Belief, Krivchenia will host a solo performance at Brooklyn’s Elsewhere on June 17, taking to the venue’s Zone One stage for an engaging live experience.
In addition to this exciting release, fans can look forward to a review of Big Thief’s latest album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You, which continues to captivate audiences with its distinctive sound and storytelling.
