ECNETNews, February 12, 2025: The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has condemned a disturbing act of neo-Nazi vandalism directed at a Middle Eastern immigrant family in West Virginia.
The family reported that two Nazi swastikas were spray-painted on their property, prompting local law enforcement to categorize the incident as an “act of hatred.” The family expressed their deep disappointment, stating, “We were extremely disappointed and hurt to learn about the vandalism. The symbols painted on our building represent the highest form of hatred, racism, and division. This building was constructed by our father, Mike E. Allie, who passed away on March 20, 2024, and who stood for the values opposite to those symbols. He was honest, caring, and loving to all, irrespective of color, race, or religion. We hope the perpetrators are caught and brought to justice.”
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information related to this incident to come forward.
“We unequivocally denounce this act of neo-Nazi vandalism and appreciate law enforcement’s efforts in pursuing justice,” a CAIR representative stated. “Hate crimes against minority communities must be met with zero tolerance and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Additionally, CAIR recently condemned another neo-Nazi incident in Ohio, where a group displayed swastikas and white supremacist banners in a historically Black community.
Furthermore, CAIR has praised the recent enhancement of hate crime penalties in Utah for a case involving the assault of a Muslim woman, as well as the sentencing of a man in California who threatened a mass shooting at a Florida mosque in 2023.
From January to June 2024, CAIR recorded 4,951 bias-related complaints across the nation, reflecting a significant 69% increase from the same timeframe in 2023.
CAIR’s latest civil rights report, titled “Fatal: The Resurgence of Anti-Muslim Hate,” recorded 8,061 complaints, marking the highest total in the organization’s 30-year history, with nearly half of those cases reported in the last three months of 2023.
CAIR continues its commitment to protect civil rights, promote understanding of Islam, foster justice, and empower American Muslims.
