The Church of God Mission International has issued a strong rebuttal to recent media reports alleging that its spiritual leader, Archbishop Margaret Benson-Idahosa, expressed disappointment in Bishop Wale Oke, the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
In an official statement released on Wednesday by the church’s Director of Administration, Rev. Yari Ekiyor, titled, “Church of God Mission International Sets the Record Straight: Standing for Truth,” CGMI categorically denied the claims made in a specific article published on January 26, 2025, regarding the PFN’s leadership dynamics.
Rev. Ekiyor characterized the reports as inaccurate and misleading, emphasizing the church’s commitment to unity and integrity within the Christian community. The statement highlighted that Archbishop Benson-Idahosa never made any disparaging remarks about Bishop Oke’s leadership.
The church clarified that the alleged comments were simply a playful observation made by Archbishop Benson-Idahosa during a birthday celebration for another church leader, unrelated to any leadership critique.
CGMI expressed concern over a pattern of sensationalism in reporting by the publication, stating that these misleading narratives are damaging and divisive. The church is calling for an immediate retraction of the false claims and reaffirming its support for Bishop Wale Oke and the PFN, acknowledging his vital role within the fellowship.
Furthermore, CGMI urged the public to be discerning and cautious regarding unverified reports that seek to create unnecessary controversies within the Christian faith.
