ECNETNews reports that a new compilation album, aimed at supporting victims of the recent Los Angeles wildfires, has been announced. Titled Los Angeles Rising, this album has been curated by Kevin Haskins, known for his work with Bauhaus, alongside renowned producer Nick Launay. The collection features exclusive tracks from notable artists including Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey, and Jarvis Cocker, along with contributions from Devo, Gary Numan, Primal Scream, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Danny Elfman, U.S. Girls, and more. The album is available for purchase at a price of $10, with all proceeds benefiting the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.
In a statement, Haskins shared his insights as the wildfires prompted evacuation orders in both his and Launay’s neighborhoods. He expressed gratitude for their safety, as nearby firefighters managed to control the flames threatening their homes and studios. Unfortunately, many musicians and friends faced devastating losses.
Additionally, earlier this week, Big Thief released a new EP titled Passional Relations to aid wildfire relief efforts. Benefit concerts are also scheduled throughout this month, including “I Love LA” at Glendale Presbyterian Church on February 8 and a performance by Blink-182 and Alkaline Trio at the Hollywood Palladium on February 13. Notably, during the 2025 Grammy Awards, a tribute performance of “California Dreamin’” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars honored victims of California’s wildfires, including a rendition by Cocker featured on the album.
