The 9th Asian Winter Games are set to take place from February 7 to 14 in Harbin, China. Recently, a ceremonial event was held to honor and send off the Mongolian national team athletes who will be participating in this prestigious competition.
Key dignitaries at the event included a representative from the International Olympic Committee and the President of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee, alongside the Minister of Finance and President of the Mongolian Hockey Federation, the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and the Chairman of the Mongolian Sports and Youth Association, as well as various officials and athletes. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for February 7, marking Harbin’s second time hosting the Asian Winter Games in 29 years.
This year’s Winter Games will showcase 11 events across 6 sports, including biathlon, cross-country skiing, curling, alpine skiing, figure skating, snowboarding, hockey, speed skating, short track, freestyle skiing, and ski mountaineering, featuring 1,275 athletes from 34 countries. The Mongolian national team will proudly compete with 35 athletes in 7 events across 4 sports.
During the send-off ceremony, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Mongolia extended his best wishes to the athletes, emphasizing their readiness to compete in speed skating, short track, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, curling, biathlon, and figure skating. Notably, this event marks the inaugural participation of Mongolian athletes in curling. He urged all competitors to elevate their country’s name and to showcase their dedication and hard work on the international stage.
