The Katsina State Executive Council, led by Governor Dikko Radda, has approved a significant initiative to procure electric and solar-powered vehicles and tricycles as part of a new public transportation program. This initiative aims to provide subsidized transportation for residents amid rising fuel prices and foster job creation for the state’s youth.
In a statement following the council meeting at the Government House in Katsina, Aisha Aminu, Director General of the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency, highlighted that this transformative program seeks to alleviate transportation costs for residents while addressing unemployment.
Additionally, the council has given the green light for the construction of a 20-storey residential building on government property in Victoria Island, Lagos State. Hadiza Maikudi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Intergovernmental Affairs, noted that this project is expected to be completed within 24 months and will serve as a strategic investment to boost the state’s revenue.
These initiatives mark a progressive step towards enhancing transportation efficiency and economic development in Katsina State.
